2016 Spring Season Overview

K - 2nd Grade Girls Intramural Teams:

  • The K girls will meet once a week on Saturday mornings.  The 1st/2nd Grade girls will practice two weeknights and will play the majority of their games at home on Saturday's.  There  may be one or two events with outside clubs in the area that would require minimal travel and possibly a Sunday game.
  • The objective will be focused on fun, enjoyment, and learning a new sport with limited emphasis on winning and losing.

  • This hour will focus on instruction only initially.  After the players learn the fundamental skills, coaches will introduce scrimmages after the instruction portion.

  • Practices will emphasize fundamental skills (catching, cradling,throwing, ground ball pickups).

  • 5v5 format will be followed, but may be modified based on the players progression. The 1st/2nd Graders will play 7v7.

  • NO stick checking or Goalies.

3rd - 6th Graders PAGLA Travel Teams:

  • Games will be on Saturdays (morning and/or afternoon) or Sunday (afternoons).  Practice for the 3rd/4th Grade teams will be held two nights a week and the 5th/6th Grade teams will practice two nights a week.  Timing of games and practices will depend on the number of teams and field availability.

  • 3rd/4th Grade girls will  be placed on evenly balanced teams, who will then compete in the PAGLA League.  Depending on the number of 5th/6th Grade girls will be evaluated to be placed on teams.

  • Very likely, due to our high number of participants in these age groups, we will have multiple competitive teams representing BYC, who may even play against each other, similar in format to our successful BYC boy’s lacrosse program.

  • The program will introduce lacrosse in an atmosphere of fun and learning a new sport with emphasis on teamwork and skill development.

  • Practice will emphasize fundamental skills (catching, cradling, throwing, ground ball pickups, attack, defense, passing, etc.) by introducing a new skills regularly while continuing to develop all previously taught skills.

  • 3rd and 4th Grade Girls:
    • 7v7 no Goalies on a modified field

    • No Stick Checking

    • Evenly balanced teams

  • 5th and 6th Grade Girls:
    • 11v11 full field play with NO Goalies

    • Modified checking will be introduced

  • Teams may play both BYC teams and teams in the PAGLA league.

7th Grade PAGLA Teams:

  • Games will be on Saturdays (morning and/or afternoon) or Sunday (afternoons) and practice will be held one to two nights per week at the coaches discretion and field availability.

  • Depending on the number of registered girls they may need to attend evaluations and then be placed on one of two leveled teams, either the blue team or the gold team, and then compete in the PAGLA league.  We may be able to have more than two teams depending on the number of girls interested.

  • The program teaches lacrosse in an atmosphere of fun and learning with emphasis on teamwork and skill development.

  • Practice will advance fundamental skills (catching, cradling, throwing, ground ball pickups, attack, defense, passing etc.) and introduce more advanced team concepts. 

  • Full field play with Goalies (12v12)

  • Modified stick checking.

  • The teams and schedule will be issued after evaluations are completed. 

  • Teams may play both BYC teams and teams in the central league, depending on the number of teams in the league.

8th Grade PAGLA Teams:

  • Games will be on Saturdays (morning and/or afternoon) or Sunday (afternoons) and practice will be held one to two nights per week at the coaches discretion and field availability.

  • Girls in this grade may need to  attend evaluations and then be placed on one of two leveled teams, either the blue team or the gold team, and then compete in the Central League.  We may be able to have more than two teams depending on the number of girls interested.

  • The program will teaches lacrosse in an atmosphere of fun and learning with emphasis on teamwork and skill development.

  • Practice will advance fundamental skills (catching, cradling, throwing, ground ball pickups, attack, defense, passing etc.) and perfect advanced team concepts.

  • Full field play with Goalies (12v12)

  • Modified stick checking.

  • The teams and schedule will be issued after evaluations are completed.

  • Teams may play both BYC teams and teams in the central league, depending on the number of teams in the league.

  • The same uniform for the Central League teams will be worn for the Tournament teams.
